2024 Round 4 Race Report

ROUND 4 2024 WA STATE ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Sunday 18th August saw the running of Round 4 2024 WA STATE ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS at Carco.com.au Raceway. The weather was atrocious with strong winds, heavy showers followed by short dry spells, and it was very cold as well, which made for plenty of tyre changes across the classes and pit crews working overtime. There were also issues with the timing during the day.

The VRT Signs Sidecar Championships opened the days proceedings, and it was Darren Nash/Cooper Mapstone (SHIELDZY
ENGINEERING RHR ZX-10) who started from pole and took the win ahead of the fast finishing Tom Quaye/Joel Boborci (Meon Valley Racing GSXR600) Robert and Hamish Taylor (ProTow, Auto Logic RHR GSXR1000) finished in third place. In the second race it was Sam Watson/Eamon Hegarty (ETC Paving LCR GSXR1000) that took the win ahead of Nash/Mapstone, after some close racing with the Taylor’s again taking the minor podium place. The third race was cancelled due to the inclement weather at start time. Nash/Mapstone took the round win with 45 points, Watson/Hegarty were second with 42 points and the Taylor’s were third with 36 points. Nash/Mapstone lead the championship with 215 points, second are Watson/Hegarty on 187 with the Taylor’s third on 159 points.

The by Olive & Co Stars of Tomorrow Series saw two different race winners on the day. Ryan Caldwell (EAC Systems Aus Ducati V4R) won the first and the third races, with Colm Keane (Keane Aviation Services Yamaha R1) winning the second race. These two sit in first and second place in the 1000 class with Brock Fallon (WESTFILL Yamaha R1) in third place. In the 600 class Hayden Treversh (Martin 17 Coaching Kawasaki ZX-6R) took the class win, with Craig Eldridge( Yamaha R6) second and Angelo Antoni (Kawasaki ZX-6R) filling the minor podium place.

The Turn 1 Motorsports Junior Championship saw Rossi McAdam (GoMoto Store Yamaha R15) make a clean sweep of the three races to gain maximum points for the round. Second was Lauchy Williams (Trakdayz Yamaha R15) with three second places and Joel Jenzen (Streetwise Transport Yamaha R15) third overall with a third, fourth and fifth placings.

The Dynapumps Superbike Championship saw two different winners on the day, following the early exit of championship leader Sam Clarke(RS36 Suzuki GSXR1000) with mechanical issues. Bronson Pickett (Aark Suspension Yamaha R1) won the first two races and finished fourth in the final race to win the day with 67 points. Jack Langley-Robins (Northside Motorcycles Yamaha R1) took the win in the final race. Adam Senior (Silkolene Yamaha R1) took two second and a third places to finish third overall for the round. Ben Stronach (VRT Signs Yamaha R1) who went into the round in second place with 141 points finished fifth for the round with 49 points and now leads the title race with 190 points, Senior is in second place with 183 points with Pickett and Langley-Robins equal third on 175 points, with Clarke slipping to fifth on 150 points.

The GoMoto Store Production Championship saw two different race winners on the day. Rossi McAdam (Ma17tin Coaching Kawasaki Ninja 400) won the first and third races with Calvin Moylan (Westsliders Kawasaki Ninja 400) winning the second race and taking two second spots. Lauchy Williams (Turn 1 Motorsports Yamaha R3) took three third places with Joel Jenzen (Ghr Yamaha R3) having three fourth places. Moylan leads the title chase with 202 points, McAdam is second on 194 points, Jenzen is in third place on 159, with Williams 3 points further back on 156 points.

The Cully’s Yamaha Supersport Championship was a day of mixed fortunes for several riders. Only seven riders contested all three races for a variety of reasons. This round saw the return to the class of Sam Clarke riding the Rob Fannin Kawasaki ZX-6R. He won the first race but didn’t contest the other two as the bike was set up for dry conditions. Calvin Moylan
(Hydro-Pneumatics Kawasaki ZX-6R) won the second and third races, but he didn’t start in the first race. Jordan White (5 Star Yamaha – Yamaha R6) was the top points scorer on the day with two second places and a fourth for 57 points. Next best was Adam Senior (Senior Engineering Honda CBR600RR) with a second and two third places for 56 points, with Hayden Treversh (Martin 17 Coaching Kawasaki ZX-6R) and Callum O’Brien (Road 2 Race Kawasaki ZX- 6R) equal third with 48 points apiece. Championship standings after four rounds sees Adam Senior leading with 177 points, second is Callum O’Brien with 173 points, third is Jordan White with 170 points and fourth is Calvin Moylan on 160 points. Round 5 moves to Collie Motorplex on Sunday 6th October.
